It's been another ordinary week. One day has seamlessly blended into the next. I've been focusing on gratitude and simple pleasures and I feel blessed in so many ways.
Spring has been creeping slowly in. We've enjoyed some lovely warm, sunny days. The countryside suddenly seems much more colourful at this time of year. It's so uplifting to see the blossom on the trees, and lambs appearing in the fields. I still haven't had chance to get out into the garden properly, but maybe in the next few weeks. Although, I have been eyeing up some new garden furniture online, as I promised that I would treat myself this summer. Nothing fancy, just a little table and some chairs.
Last weekend, we took a short but steep walk up Raven Crag, above Thirlmere. It had been a while since I'd last enjoyed the view there, and with the promise of some blue skies it was too good an opportunity to miss. We set off early, and walked across the dam road, which I always think is the most scenic approach. It was quite cool, so early in the morning, and you can probably just about see the snow on the higher fells. Our short climb was rewarded with an incredible view. A beautiful start to the day, and we were home in time for lunch.
In other matters, I'm still playing a waiting game. Everything is uncertain and yet I'm feeling more settled than I have in a long time. What is it they say. Yesterday is gone, tomorrow isn't promised, today is a gift. And with that in mind, today we're off in search of some frog spawn :)
Back soon.

Those 'ordinary days' are quite spectacular when you've got scenery like that around you, absolutely beautiful. Glad you're feeling more settled, good luck with the frog spawn.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jo. The scenery is not too shabby :)
DeleteThe views are awesome, we visited the area years ago, good luck with the frogs spawn, I was advised it was better to get froglets rather than spawn, I waited and was rewarded with a frog setting up home.
ReplyDeleteWe only wanted to look at the frog spawn Marlene. Although, I am hoping to make a more wildlife friendly garden this year. Xx
DeleteAlways lovely to see your beautiful photos. Have a good weekend. B x
ReplyDeleteThank you, Barbara. Xx
DeleteSuch a wonderful walk with great views. Ordinary days are good days. I hope you find some frogspawn:)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Rosie. We found plenty! X
DeleteYou’re doing exactly what works for you - what feels right plus a bit of nature and it sounds glorious. As if you need anything else to do :) one of my favorite books is Simple Abundance, by Sarah Ban Breathnach - there’s a snippet or page to read daily, and I just find her words encouraging. Have a lovely weekend, Jules!
ReplyDeleteI must have a search for that book. Thanks, Mary. X
DeleteOnce again you've shared such beautiful photographs ... those views are wonderful.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your Spring days.
All the best Jan
Thank you, Jan. It's so lovely now that spring is here. Xx
DeleteIt sounds like some very special ordinary days. Lovely photos of the scenery from your walk. Hope you find plenty of frog spawn. :)
ReplyDeleteOrdinary is good. It's the little things in life that are actually rhe big things. Xx
DeleteI am so envious of these views. Wow. Breathtaking. So very breathtaking. How blessed to be able to see this view!!!
ReplyDeleteBreathtaking and breathless. It was a steep climb :)
DeleteOh, I can imagine!

DeleteBeautiful views. I am waiting here too for the decisions by Social Services on mum's future...they are in no rush it seems and soon all mum's money will have gone and she will not be able to pay for the carers. Our system is so broken, why is it OK to treat elderly citizens like this?
ReplyDeleteHope you have an end to your waiting soon. x
That must be really hard for you, Viv. It's so sad that this is allowed to happen. Xx
DeleteLovely
ReplyDeleteThank you. X
DeleteYour photos take my breath away, Jules.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry that you're still paying a waiting game and am full of admiration for your philosophical attitude. Good luck with the frogspawn hunting! xxx
Thanks, Vix. I usually have a practical approach to challenging situations. X
DeleteI'll take an ordinary day any day of the week. How blessed you are to live in the middle of such, not so ordinary, beauty!
ReplyDeleteOrdinary is underrated. Xx
DeleteVery true about yesterday, today and tomorrow. Also, excellent photography. Cheers, lvy.
ReplyDeleteWe can only deal with the here and now. Thanks, Ivy. X
DeleteSo true we can also prep for the upcoming but we really never know. Right now, we know.
