Cosy v-stitch blanket


On this cold and icy morning I thought I would take a moment and share with you my v-stitch blanket which I finally finished this week. Although I say 'finally,' it has probably been the easiest and fastest blanket I have worked so far. I had never tried working the v-stitch before so I am really quite happy with how it turned out.
The yarn I used is a wool/acrylic blend which is a perfect compromise for me as it makes for a very cosy blanket and yet can be thrown in the washing machine with little worry.
Instead of a border I finished it off with some fringing.

The finished blanket measures 100x135cm and I used DK yarn and a 4mm hook.
I made my foundation chain with 184 stitches. 
Work 1treble, 1chain, 1treble into the 4th chain from the hook. Skip two stitches then repeat until the end of the row, finishing with 1treble into the last stitch. Break yarn.
Join the contrasting yarn at the start of the row, chain three then work across the row working 1treble, 1chain, 1treble into the gaps created by the V's in the previous row. I worked 151 rows altogether.

    Your blanket looks lovely Jules, very elegant with it's 2 tone colours. I love the photo sequence, think that's why I take ages taking photos. 'Don't want this in the photo, or this, lights not good' etc the last one is purr-fect lol. Have a lovely weekend enjoying your blanket. Cathy x

    It's fabulous, I love it. I've had a v stitch scarf waiting in my queue of things to make for quite some time now, but it's a stitch that I still haven't got round to having a go at. I think the fringing detail finishes it off perfectly and it doesn't need a border at all. I can see that it's going to be loved by all members of your family, including the furry ones.

    Beautiful blanket.

    Even if I wanted to do an arty shot of anything I make it would be impossible as I always attract the attention of one or both of my mini beasts (it's the best part!).

    Its gorgeous Jules. I love the grey and white combination. Simple but very chic. I've never tried a V stitch so will have to give it a go and how inspirational to do a fringe instead of a border - I will definitely be pinching that superb idea from you. xx

      Thank you Suzanne. Do have a go at the v-stitch. I was expecting it to be complicated and was pleasantly surprised at how easy it is. I wasn't sure about the fringing at first - too tempting for small child and cat? Time will tell but so far, so good. X

    The blanket is beautiful! I love the colors and the fringe. The sequence of pictures is too funny! Your Mog reminds me a lot of our Dancer - he's always there to make himself comfortable on whatever I'm making/have made. Right now, he's sleeping on top of the sweater I am knitting!
