Yet another early start for me this morning and by 7 o'clock I was enjoying my second mug of coffee. Friday is my busiest day of the week, but after a good night's sleep (Mog did not wake me, thankfully) and a bowl of porridge for breakfast, I was ready to go. What I hadn't prepared for, however, was a frozen car windscreen. It had been another chilly night here, and after hurriedly scraping it clear I managed to get Lily to school with seconds to spare.
The day passed by without further incident and before I realised it, I was home again to a cosy house and the warm glow of the fairy lights from our little tree in the kitchen.
We haven't yet been to buy our main Christmas tree this year, but last week, knowing there was limited stock available, I bought this tiny tree to display in the kitchen. It had been sitting in the porch until Tuesday, when I had the opportunity to bring it indoors and hang some lights from it. Yesterday, I noticed the lights were flickering and, realising that it was in all likelihood that they would stop working completely only once the stores had sold out, I decided to replace them. The only ones available in a warm white were some copper wire lights. I was a little unsure as I placed them in my shopping basket, but I can't tell you how pleased I am with them. They are so simple to hang, you can bend them in order to position them how you like and they give off a gorgeous glow. I've still to decorate the tree but for now I'm enjoying the simplicity of how it looks with just the lights on.

And why not just lights. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteI am tempted to just leave it like this. X
DeleteHow lovely to have a tree in the kitchen. The lights look lovely. Have a good weekend. B x
ReplyDeleteThanks, Barbara. I don't really know why I've never had one in there before. X
DeleteI use those types of lights also and I am always pleased with them.
ReplyDeleteThey're great aren't they, and they'll take up very little room when packed away. X
DeleteJust lovely as it is!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Chris. That's just what I'm thinking but we'll see :) X
DeleteWhat a darling little tree! It's really cute with just the lights.
ReplyDeleteHere's the link for the cranberry bars. Hope it works. http://www.sweetsugarbean.com/2012/12/white-chocolate-rosemary-cranberry.html
Thank you, Julia. I'll be sure to let you know when I've made some. X

DeleteIt looks beautiful just as it is!
ReplyDeleteIf I do decide to add any decorations they will need to be small ones. X
DeleteSometimes less really is more, I used to put a small tree in the kitchen but have not done so for a few years - you have made me think 🎄 🎅🏻
ReplyDeletePS: Apologies for recent absence - not ignoring you, but battling with computers, cookies, and the inability to be logged into leave comments.
I would say definitely get one, Jayne. I don't know why I've never had one in the kitchen before, especially as I spend so much of my time in there :)
DeleteI hope you manage to sort out your computer issues very soon. X
It really is a delight, simply stunning.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lorraine. X
DeleteI love the simplicity and the container is absolutely magnificent!
ReplyDeleteThank you Graham. This was exactly what I had in mind for it. X
DeleteIt's very pretty as it is and I do like the tub it's sitting in.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Eileen. It looks lovely when the light reflects on it. X
DeleteIt does look pretty with just the lights on it, and with the reflections around it.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jo. I do love the glow of Christmas lights. X
DeleteI am absolutely losing my mind - did I comment on this post earlier today?
ReplyDeleteIf not, your small tree is beautiful and sometimes simple is better. I have some of the ligght copper wire lights you describe and they're very p[retty and easy to use, although I have found they seem to eat batteries.
I'm so sorry, I was a little late in publishing comments today :)
DeleteThanks for the heads up about the batteries. X
What a lovely little tree to brighten up your kitchen :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Eunice. I'm looking forward to getting our big tree next. X
DeleteIt is a beautiful tree.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Faith. I'm really happy with it. X
DeleteOh my word - so simple and so beautiful - really made me smile :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Kate. I love how it looks when I walk into the kitchen. X
DeleteAw it's so cute, sometimes less is more.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Linda. Yes, I think you're right. X
DeleteLovely little tree. Is it real? Can you plant it after the holidays?
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ellen. Yes, it is real and I intend to plant it in the garden in the New Year. X
DeleteLooks gorgeous, I'm loving the copper pot.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I love how the copper reflects the lights. X
DeleteLoving the primitive look Jules. x
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jackie. X
DeleteYour little tree is lovely and we too had a very cold start with a sprinkling of snow yesterday morning. Bertie has never seen snow and tried eating it all. We got everything down from the loft yesterday and sorted through all the various light. I bought a new set in the after Christmas sales last year.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Tania. The snow certainly helped get me in the festive spirit, it's just a shame it didn't stick around. I expect Bertie's face was a picture when he saw it.
DeleteI think I'll be getting copper wire lights to replace the ones on the big tree when they finally give out, especially as they take up very little space when packed away. X
I love the tree with just the lights. It’s simple but so pretty! xx
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ann. I'm very tempted to keep it this way. X
DeleteThat looks lovely, such a warm glow from the lights :)
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Thank you, Jan. X
