There's nothing quite like a Summer holiday. A chance to get away from it all and unwind.
The excitement for me begins when I start browsing the internet for places to stay and visit, closely followed by confirming the bookings and making travel arrangements.
Nearer the time this is accelerated as I then decide what to pack in my suitcase. A book to read, sun cream, how many pairs of shorts? and for holidays in this country a handy waterproof and a sweater!
Last week was our Summer holiday and, although still exciting, in reality the build up to going away as a family can be quite a frantic time of organising, lists and getting those last minute errands done on time.
Thankfully we enjoyed a wonderful and relaxing week away from the moment we drove onto the ferry. We had some glorious weather; blue skies, sunshine and warm breezes. I read my book, enjoyed some internet free time (no Wi-Fi) and on one of our beach days my legs turned a little bit pink! Proper holiday stuff.
Mornings were easy. We took time over breakfast and didn't rush anywhere. We filled our days with walking, hanging out at the beach and enjoying each others company without distractions.
The sea air did an amazing job of knocking us out and after a glass of wine in an evening we would sit in the Jacuzzi and watch the sunset, it was blissful. As is often the case, we were very reluctant to return home.
We now have six weeks until school starts and I'm sure there is much more fun to be had in the meanwhile, but for this year our holiday is over. I have a funny feeling that one evening this week I will be found looking at ideas for next Summer. Maybe once I've vacuumed all the sand out of the car.

Where did you go it looks lovely and tranquil? There is something so special about a Jacuzzi that makes a holiday extra special. A holiday is a way of recharging the batteries. I'm helping out with childcare for the grandchildren.
ReplyDeleteWe were on the beautiful island of Arran. The last photograph is of the view from the Jacuzzi. Good luck with the grandchildren. X
DeleteFab pictures as usual I love the composition of the picture with the puff clouds (picture number 4) on the left and the pebbles on the right, perfectly balanced. Love it. And also such lovely blonde hair! Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThank you Sol. Obviously the composition was completely intentional ;-) X
DeleteYou also gave us a nice taste of your week's holiday from the photos.
ReplyDeleteThank you Pat. I will try a post a few more when I get chance. X

DeleteThere is nothing like a holiday and one by the sea it is so relaxing - where did you go though it is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI know! I love a good dose of sea air. We went to the island of Arran. There is some beautiful scenery. X
DeleteSitting up in bed with a cup of tea looking out the window at the trees swaying...a leaden grey sky...and a hefty journey to a work meeting...oh for a holiday! x
ReplyDeleteThe weather is not much better here Jackie and we're back to the daily grind once more. It was such a good holiday. X
DeleteIt looks fabulous, so tranquil which makes for a relaxing holiday, just what you need to recharge the batteries.
ReplyDeleteIt was tranquil Jo (probably more so before we arrived!) Batteries fully recharged and now we're back to work once again. X
DeleteWhat a lovely holiday! Beautiful pictures, too. I could almost hear and smell the sea! Your pictures remind me that it has been years since I last went away somewhere for a holiday. Almost all my vacation days have been spent here, at home, or the occasional visit to see daughter.
ReplyDeleteThank you Bless. Perhaps you could plan to go away with your daughter. X

Thank you Jan. My computer does funny things sometimes, usually when Lily has been near it!
DeleteWe had a great time away and it was the perfect place for us this year. I'm glad your grandchildren are enjoying the holidays, I just hope the weather improves. X
You were sooo lucky with the weather! Looks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteWe really were Francesca. It was lovely. X
DeleteWhen you get the right weather (as you seem to have done), I think there might be nowhere more beautiful than our own country :). Hope you all enjoy the rest of the summer holidays
ReplyDeleteI would second that Jayne. It's so beautiful here and often unappreciated. It's just that we are at the mercy of the pesky weather. The holidays are starting to go by quickly now. X
