Back to the Lake

An early start, once again, for me. I was already on my second coffee by 7am. It was the hottest day of the week so far and the perfect excuse for a lazy morning, or in my case, dealing with my insurance company, then changing and laundering all the bed linen. It's an exhausting task and I have to pace myself in this heat, so as not to get too hot and bothered.

I ate my breakfast later than usual - toast with blackcurrant jam - then set about giving the house a general tidy. It looks a little less cluttered at least, but it still looks as though a tornado has been through it. Just a shame it left all the dust behind :)

Mid afternoon, we set off for the lake once again. There is no better place to be when it is so hot. There is usually a gentle breeze by the shoreline and the water is just the perfect temperature in which to cool off. We found a shaded space to park beneath the trees and although the lake was much busier than earlier in the week, we had no difficulty in finding a comfortable spot to sit down and enjoy the late afternoon sun. That said, Lily spent all of her time there in the water, not getting out until it was time for us to leave, and I spent most of my time swimming alongside her. Another really lovely day.

Returning home, I put the towels and swimsuits straight in the washing machine and rinsed off the water shoes and Lily's buoyancy aid. This way everything dries easily overnight and is ready for the following day, should we choose to visit again.

A lighter meal was enjoyed in the evening. We ate crackers and cheese, along with some olives and hummus, sat out in the garden. And yes, there was wine.

  1. The lakes look lovely - I'm really looking forward to our trip up at the end of the holidays. It will nice to see a different landscape to the one we have down here. We've been to the beach again today, luckily no seaweed and it was a bit cooler x

  3. A question... When you say hot, what daytime/nighttime temps do you mean? Please and thank you.

Those morning necessities sound as it they would "take the starch out" of anyone!!!!!

And off to the lake again! Perfection! Wonderful that your weather, though hot, is cooperating, to allow you to enjoy the lake.

A perfect dinner, after a long and happily tiring day. -smile-

Of course there was wine!!!! Off course!!!!!

    Gentle hugs,

    1. Yesterday the temperature was 29 degrees during the day and 18 at night, so we are lucky in that we can cool off at the lake.
I could happily live off cheese and olives at this time of year and, of course, wine :)

  4. I presume the wine was for you and not for Lily :) A perfect afternoon and evening, I'm not just a teeny bit envious am I? lol. It's been a bit cooler here today with intermittent cloud cover and a nice breeze making things quite pleasant.

It's been another hot day again here, but the temperature is set to drop slightly tomorrow. Hopefully we can get out for a walk. X

  6. The middle picture with the view of the Lake is lovely and...cooling!
Hummus, tahine and olives (mediteranean diet) are also welcome at my evening table.

  9. Summer at its best! I also could live on cheese - those look like interesting types. That and tomatoes my other favourite summer indulgence.

    1. They are Stilton and Brie. Tomatoes can be delicious. I much prefer home grown, so I will need to wait a little longer for those :)

  11. Your day sounds wonderful, well once the laundry and insurance claim were dealt with. The lake looks very inviting and your meal delicious. There's a cool breeze coming through the open window and I'm enjoying it even though it's the middle of the night :)

  15. It sounds perfect, well, apart from the housework urgh! I think it's so relaxing to be by water when the weather's nice, it doesn't matter how busy it is, it's still seems so tranquil.

    1. There is always housework to be done. Although, having spent most of this week in a bikini, there has been much less laundry to do than usual :)

  16. That's the only problem with a holiday-at-home . . . laundry, paperwork, general detritus can only be ignored for so long.

You're going to have to get more cheese and olives: please can I join you and Vix because that REALLY looks like my sort of meal.
