Rain!

Another couple of photographs from last week, when it was still delightfully sunny and dry. The rain finally arrived a few days ago, and although the gardens are grateful, I'm not really feeling it. I realise it is very much needed, I'd even been wishing for a few good showers, but I'd also become rather used to the bright, warm mornings and evenings spent pottering  about in the garden. Not so, this evening. It's dark, wet, and horribly windy.

Since I last posted, my new work schedule has been confirmed. Yay! I'll still be doing the same hours, although it's slightly different than I'd anticipated. The admin side of things is going to be taking up the majority of my time, but then I'll also be working in new-to-me area. I'm a little nervous, but also quite excited for the challenge, especially as my new colleague is just THE loveliest person, and also a lot of fun.

Yesterday, I completed my second Parkrun. It was a different course this time, but the people there were just as friendly and welcoming. I was as predictable as ever, with my time being just 13 seconds out from my last run. I was slower this time, so perhaps I should practice more, then I might see some improvement.

Today, it's been raining, so I've been busying myself tidying the house and cleaning out the fridge. It's looking a bit sparse in there now. I've chopped and frozen some butternut squash, sweet potato and carrots, as they wouldn't have stayed fresh for much longer, and they will be far better used in a soup than thrown away.

I've also ordered myself some pretty new pillow cases. I usually like my bedding to look quite neutral, and I don't like anything too fussy. But I fell in love with this particular floral design, and they will look lovely with my dusky pink duvet cover. I'm working harder at bringing more colour into the house, without adding unnecessary clutter.

Back soon.

    1. Thank you, Jan. The Parkrun is quite a challenge, as it isn't a distance I'm used to running. X

  3. I don't know if I should be glad or sorry on your behalf with the rain! I know you said you needed the rain, but, "dark, wet, and horribly windy" doesn't sound like fun. I'm glad you like the new work schedule and hope everything works out well in that area of your life. Well done on completing your second Parkrun. I'm sure you did well.
I hope you will post a picture of the new floral pillowcases. Hope the rest of the week goes well for you and a certain young lady. :)

    1. Haha! We did need the rain, but it was quite a shock after such a lengthy spell of dry weather. The garden has soaked it all up.
I'll be sure to post a photograph of the pillowcases, just as soon as they're laundered, and on the bed. Xx

  4. Well done on the park run, regardless of the time you completed it. I to love colour in our house, it's easy to get loads of stuff to add colour, but as you say that's clutter, I've got a cleaner house this week. I am loving the rain, it does keep me inside but the water buts are filling again and the garden is so green, sadly the wind has bashed my climbing roses, they will produce more buds.

  5. You sound so positive and happy, Jules. The sunshine, the less stressful work schedule and being able to run again is doing you the power of good.
I'm obviously not a dedicated gardener, I fail to share anyone's enthusiasm for the rain, I'm like a caged tiger when I can't get outside!
I can't imagine embracing anything neutral, colour and print are so joyful. Enjoy the new, colourful bedding! xxx

  6. I am the same! I had a very pretty neutral bedding set for a very long time. Then, I went to replace it, and fell in love with a cozy, blue print! Go figure! I am happy you are happy, and despite the rain are finding joy in the comfort of home.

Your pics are so pretty. Please feel free to send the rain here. We sure need it - fighting wildfires not too terribly far from our area. How awesome about the park fun!! You are a rock star. 😁✨
The new bedding sounds beautiful! I think that is such a great way to bring in some color or pattern. Pretty bedding brings me joy. Blessings on your weekend ahead.

  8. Well done on your park run! 13 seconds is not that much, maybe the latest course was a little hillier, or it was a little warmer, or windier. I’ve never done one but would like to find the courage one day. Have a fabulous weekend x

  11. I think we picked the best week to go on holiday, it's been nothing but sunshine in Majorca. I can see lots of rain in our forecast for the coming week, just when I want some fine weather to get all the holiday washing dry, haha, never mind. It sounds like you're happy with your new work schedule, it can be daunting when there's changes afoot so I'm glad your excited about the future. Lovely photos, as always.
